Owner and Senior Exercise Physiologist 

Matthew is the owner, head Exercise Physiologist and driving force behind Empower Exercise Physiology and Health. After completing a Degree in Exercise Physiology; Matt spent a number of years working with some of the best Trainers and Exercise Physiologists in the Industry. His professional interest is in working with musculoskeletal pain and injury and motivating people to live an inspiring life.    


Not only is Matt a caring and knowledgeable practitioner having helped countless people reach their goals, he also practices what he preaches. He is the youngest person to complete the 4 Deserts Ultra Marathon series in a single calendar year and was recognized for this achievement as an Australia Day Ambassador in 2013 and 2014.


He is passionate about what he does and a self-confessed nerd on all things related to movement, biomechanics, injury and performance. Outside of the clinic, Matt loves to surf and can sometimes be found sneaking off for a quick wave in work breaks.

Hogan, AEP

Exercise Physiologist 

Matthew Hogan joins Empower with an exceptional set of skills formed after spending 3 years working as an Exercise Physiologist within Canberra’s premier physiotherapy and sports injury clinics.


Matt has collected valuable experience in the fields of Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Strength in Conditioning, which has helped him build a strong knowledge base and become a versatile Exercise Physiologist.


Matt has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people, from a general population through to elite athletes, representing their country in their sport, and all those in between. This has helped Matt cultivate a broad experience which he can adapt to those he is working with to best achieve their goals.


Matt has special interest in working with those with disability, neurological conditions, athletic injury rehabilitation and strength & conditioning
